History

Peter Tolos and Scott Moats designed the rubber pride flag in the mid-1990s; sources give 1994 or 1995.

It gives people who love rubber and latex gear a way to recognize one another. It marks a shared interest rather than a sexual orientation or gender identity, and it often flies at leather and fetish events next to the leather pride flag.

Black stands for the look and feel of glossy black rubber, red for passion and desire, and yellow for the drive for intense experience. Flags of the World notes that the red and yellow on many real flags are lighter than the darker shades used in common digital versions.
