History
The first polyamory flag, a blue, red, and black tricolor with a gold pi symbol, was made by Jim Evans in 1995. In 2021 the group PolyamProud set up an international committee to find a new design.
Ten options were narrowed to four finalists, and 30,827 people from more than 50 countries voted from November 1 to 22, 2022. Red Howell's design won. The white chevron sits off-center to reflect non-traditional relationships and points forward as a sign of growth.
Every submitted design was released into the public domain, so anyone can use the flag without asking permission. Our drawing follows the public domain redraw on Wikimedia Commons.
